The KGMA MEXICO Mission Center started in 2002 when Reverend Mansoo Shim, former advisor to the GMA Mission Foundation, established a mission center in Leona Vicario, Quintanaro, Mexico.
Reverend Shim had previously launched the Sekwang International Mission Society in 1998 and, over a decade, developed a 20-acre mission center. We acquired land, constructed four buildings, including a church, and established facilities essential for missionary activities.
Our efforts included church planting, temple construction, running a Korean language school ministry, engaging in local missions through short-term mission teams, and conducting welfare ministry with the aim of evangelizing the local community. Additionally, we successfully opened and operated a private kindergarten, receiving a positive response from the local residents.
On September 19, 2011, through what was perceived as God's providence, the GMA Mission Foundation merged with Sekwang International Mission Society. Under the new name of GMA LUZ DEL MUNDO, they constructed a Barnabas Hall within the mission center, providing accommodation for up to 24 people.
Additionally, they established a community center in downtown Leona Vicario. The foundation opened and operated an after-school program, built a pioneer church, and received support from numerous Korean churches in the Americas, which sent short-term mission teams to carry out robust missionary work.
On September 19, 2022, the mission foundation officially changed its name from GMA LUZ DEL MUNDO to KGMA.MEXICO (Korean Global Mission Alliance-Mexico).
Over the past few years, facilities were restored that had become outdated due to the impact of COVID. Ministries that had been suspended for several years were also reinstated. The mission center is set to restart operations in 2023 and is actively engaged in carrying out missionary work.
